What is the EU GDPR Foundation and Practitioner course?

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Foundation and Practitioner has a duration of four days and provides a complete introduction to the requirements of the new legislation, as well as a complete overview of how to plan, implement and maintain an EU GDPR compliance programme. It also allows candidates to fulfil the role of a Data Protection Officer (DPO). This is a role that will become a legal requirement in the majority EU Organisations under the new GDPR. This Foundation and Practitioner GDPR certification consists of the Foundation course, which is covered during the first two days, and Practitioner which is the focus of the last two days.

What does a Data Protection Officer (DPO) do?

This EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Foundation and Practitioner training course will inform you of the roles and responsibilities of a Data Protection Officer (DPO). This is a role which will be entitled to an individual on the basis of their professional qualities, knowledge of data protection laws and their capability to adhere to the GDPR requirements referred to in Article 39. These tasks are:

• To notify and advise the Data Controller or the Processor and the employees who are processing personal data of their obligations pursuant to this Regulation.
• To monitor compliance with this Regulation, including the allocation of tasks, raising awareness, and training team members involved in processing operations, and related audits.
• To collaborate with the supervisory authority (the ICO).
• To give advice where requested in respect of the data protection impact assessment and monitor its performance consistent with Article 35.
• To be the point of contact for the supervisory authority on matters associated with the processing of personal data.
