PRINCE2 Practitioner

PRINCE2 is an internationally recognised best practice project management methodology. Since its inception in 1989, it has been widely adopted and successfully implemented throughout both the public and private sectors around the world. PRINCE2 Practitioner Level follows on from the Foundation element looking at how the principles, techniques and processes learnt previously and required for successful project management are applied in the real world.

  • Project managers and other team members requiring an in-depth knowledge of how to successfully manage a project, and an understanding of all the key stages of a project and materials that should be created at each stage to aid successful project management
  • Those who are familiar with the PRINCE2 method and require guidance and practice in applying the method before sitting the Practitioner exam

Course duration:

Two days (the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam is normally taken during the morning of the second day)

Pre-requisites:

Delegates must have passed PRINCE2 Foundation level before attending Practitioner level. Delegates are expected to spend time before the course reading through the pre-course materials.

Course outline:

The emphasis at Practitioner Level is on the application of PRINCE2 principles and practices in the real world. The exam takes place in the morning of the second day. The course is conducted through interactive group study using practical examples and activities.

  • Application of PRINCE2 - The topics covered at Foundation Level are reviewed and using two case studies supplied by the examination board, delegates are given an understanding of how PRINCE2 is applied and how it can be tailored to the project environment.
  • Exam Preparation – Group review of sample exam papers to help prepare for the exam.
  • Evening Study – delegates are expected to spend time reading and reviewing course materials each evening throughout the course. This extra study is necessary to pass the exam.

Exam details:

A two and a half hour exam is taken in the morning of day two of the course. This exam evaluates delegates' knowledge of the application of PRINCE2. It consists of nine questions worth 12 points each (108 points in total) and the pass mark is 50%. This is an open book exam meaning that entrants may refer to the PRINCE2 course materials and their own notes during the exam.
