Swansea is the second largest city in Wales in the UK. The motto of this city is the name of Swansea is city and county of Swansea. Actually, Swansea is a coastal city and is known as the twenty-fifth largest city in the United Kingdom. In 2014, the population of Swansea was 241,300. Whereas in 2011, population goes to 462,000 which made it the second most populous local authority area in Wales. Hence it is the second most populous local authority after Cardiff. In the 19th century, Swansea was named as ‘Copperopolis’ because it was a key Centre of the copper industry. Swansea’s population grew by 500% from the late 17th century to 1801. The two largest rivers- Tawe and Loughor also passes through the city. Morriston, Sketty and City Centre are the most populated areas of Swansea. The climate of Swansea is mainly temperate oceanic.
Geographic dimension
Swansea is at the border of unitary authorities of Carmarthenshire from the north side and Neath Port Talbot from the east. It is at the border line of Swansea Bay and Bristol Channel. The size of the area of local government is 378 square kilometres which are 2% of the area of Wales. There are the Lliw uplands to the north, Gower Peninsula to the west and coastal strip to the east. Three seas -the Loughor Estuary, Swansea Bay and the Bristol Channel bordered the Swansea.

Swansea has three main buildings rade one listed buildings, the Tabernacle Chapel and the Swansea Guildhall. In addition, gradeII buildings are also present like the Ebenezer Baptist Chapel, the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, the Midland Bank building, The Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Kingsway, the Royal Institution of South Wales building and the Old Guildhall in Somerset Place. From the beginning of 18th century, Swansea is the main Centre of the copper industry.
