Harrogate

Harrogate is a resort town, also known as ‘The English Spa’ situated on the shore of the Yorkshire Dales with a population of around 71,594 according to 2001 census. The history of the town can be traced from two main communities High Harrogate and Low Harrogate located in the Royal Forest of Knaresborough. Main attractions of the city RHS Harlow Carr gardens, the Nidderdale AONB, Yorkshire Dales national park and spa waters attracts thousands of tourists every year. The development and economy of the city were greatly affected by the first and second world war. Many government offices were moved to the town centre from London for developing the city as retail, exhibition and conference centre. Harrogate International Centre is the country’s largest conference, and exhibition centre attracts around 350000 visitors every year and contributing 150 GBP to the economy of the city.
