What does a Data Protection Officer (DPO) do?

This EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Practitioner training course will guide you through the actions and responsibilities of a Data Protection Officer. This new role shall be entitled to an individual on the basis of their professional qualities, their capability to fulfil the tasks referred to in Article 39 (see below), and in particular, expert knowledge of data protection law and practices.

The tasks referred to in Article 39 are

To notify and advise the Data Controller or the Processor and the employees who are processing personal data of their obligations pursuant to this Regulation.
To monitor compliance with this Regulation, including the allocation of tasks, raising awareness, and training team members involved in processing operations, and related audits.
To collaborate with the supervisory authority (the ICO).
To give advice where requested in respect of the data protection impact assessment and monitor its performance consistent with Article 35.
To be the point of contact for the supervisory authority on matters associated with the processing of personal data.
