Dubai is the largest and most populous city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Dubai is situated on the eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula to the south-west of the Arabian Gulf. After the emirate of Abu Dhabi, Dubai is the second largest emirate covering an area of 4.114 sq. Km, which is equal to 5% of the total area of the UAE. The city shares its borders with Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Sultanate of Oman in the south, northeast, and southeast respectively. Dubai is known as the capital of the UAE’s economy and considered to be a business hub of the Middle East.

Dubai has attracted the whole world through its large construction projects and sports events. The city has attracted a large amount of tourism with its world's tallest building - the Burj Khalifa. In 2014, Dubai attracted 13.2 million visitors. As of 2018, Dubai is the fourth most-visited city in the world with visitors amounting to 15.92 million. It has been estimated that in 2020, there will be 20 million visitors. Dubai has a hot desert climate. The summers are sweltering, humid, and windy. In August, the average temperature of the city is around 41 °C and a minimum of 30 °C. Comparatively, winters are cold with an average temperature of 24 °C and minimum of 14 °C.
